About Maëlis
It all started when…
When I was 5 years old, I was introduced to yoga while running around backstage in Spain at a Sting concert. My step dad was a sound engineer on tour with Sting who was practicing yoga with a yogi teacher by the name of Danny Paradise. I guess the spark was lit that day, and I've been drawn to yoga and all its wonderful benefits and studies since. I studied yoga in college at Penn State (2006-2008) and after years of working in marketing in New York City, I decided to become a yoga teacher. I taught my first class on December 1, 2015 to a group of adults at a co-working space. It was the first of 4 sessions on The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Since then, I have taught hundreds of classes to students ages 4 to 90 and everyone in between. I have taught creative vinyasa flows, workshops and have had the opportunity to collaborate with DJs and other creatives. I have taught large group classes to one-on-one lessons, and have worked with children, corporate professionals, CEO’s and other executives in my community.
Maëlis Mittig is the owner of Bounce Yoga LLC, a yoga and exercise prop invention company, as well as the host of The Bounce Back Podcast, a podcast about yoga as it relates to being a tool to cultivate resiliency. She began her personal practice over 15 years ago, studied yoga technique and history in college and over the last 9 years, has decided to take her curiosity and passion to the next level by becoming a certified yoga instructor. She completed her first RYT® 200 training at Evolution Power Yoga in 2016 and followed it with becoming a Master Reiki Practitioner under the teaching of Reiki Master Guillaume Gauthereau in NYC. She has also completed a RYT® 200 Alignment Yoga training through The Yoga Sanctuary School in Lancaster, PA, and since has taught and taken hundreds of classes from NYC, PA, and the DMV to her most recent stint in Negril, Jamaica. Maëlis is passionate and on a life-long quest to learn about how relational energy, philosophy, psychology, meditation, mindfulness and spirituality can be used for healing and expansion.
The ultimate goal — create space for individual self-empowerment and in turn, make the world a more joyful place.
Her personal yoga practice is quite diverse and includes trampoline yoga, hip hop yoga, Bhakti yoga, alignment yoga, traditional vinyasa and more. Maëlis’ classes are designed to activate the body, mind and spirit and to create joy, peace and resiliency. She often bases her classes on chakra yoga techniques, relating her lessons to colors and energetic movement. She most recently enjoys teaching around the Baltimore area.
